New Children's Home (EBD) - Tamworth Area


Ainsworth Recruitment is excited to partner with a financially robust and award-winning care group to find a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager for their brand-new children's home in the Tamworth area. This is a rare and impactful opportunity to lead a therapeutic-focused home for young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) from its very inception.

Your Mission


As the Registered Manager, you'll be instrumental in establishing and leading this new children's home. You'll ensure the highest standards of care are delivered, driven by therapeutic principles, and fully compliant with all regulatory requirements. With plans to expand to a second property within two years, you'll also play a key role in shaping the group's growth trajectory while maintaining exemplary care.


Here's what your role will entail:

  • Leadership & Compliance:Oversee the home's operations in full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards (2015), safeguarding procedures, and OFSTED SCCIF.
    Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring prompt reporting and resolution of any safeguarding concerns.
    Maintain OFSTED readiness at all times, striving for and achieving a minimum rating of "Good" or "Outstanding."
    Implement and regularly review the home’s Statement of Purpose.

  • Care Delivery Excellence:Provide person-centred care and support for children aged 8-17, addressing their emotional, educational, and social needs.
    Support young people in overcoming challenges related to trauma or adversity, fostering positive relationships and encouraging personal growth.
    Collaborate with external professionals (therapists, psychologists, social workers) to develop tailored care plans.
    Champion children’s rights, ensuring their voice is central to decision-making processes.

  • Team Development & Nurturing:Recruit, train, and develop a motivated and highly skilled staff team.
    Provide ongoing supervision and appraisals, cultivating a positive and supportive team culture.
    Support staff in effectively implementing therapeutic principles in daily care.
    Delegate tasks efficiently, promoting clarity and accountability within the team.

  • Operational & Resource Management:Oversee daily operations, including staff rotas, referrals, and admissions.
    Conduct regular audits of health and safety, compliance, and home maintenance, addressing any issues promptly.
    Manage budgets efficiently, ensuring financial sustainability while meeting operational needs.
    Maintain accurate and professional records in line with regulatory standards.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with external agencies, local authorities, and other professionals.
    Ensure timely submission of Reg 44 and Reg 45 reports.
    Represent the home in external meetings, promoting the group’s ethos and achievements.

Requirements:


  • Essential Qualifications & Experience:Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or a commitment to complete it within 12 months). You must hold at least a Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare at the time of application.
    A minimum of 5 years’ experience in children’s residential care, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
    Proven experience achieving “Good” or “Outstanding” OFSTED ratings.
    A strong understanding of safeguarding and relevant legislation.

  • Desirable Qualifications & Experience:Additional qualifications in therapeutic practices or child psychology.
    Experience working specifically with children with EBD.

  • Key Skills & Competencies:Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities.
    Strong knowledge of safeguarding protocols and child protection laws.
    Excellent organisational and decision-making skills.
    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    High level of resilience and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

  • Additional Requirements:Flexibility to participate in on-call duties and respond to emergencies.
    Commitment to continuous professional development.
