We are currently seeking a Children’s Home Registered Manager to lead a vital 2-bed home in Barnsley. This is an incredible opportunity to shape a nurturing environment where young people can achieve their full potential.

Main Purpose of the Job
As the Registered Manager, you will hold overall accountability and responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home. Your leadership will ensure the delivery of high-quality care, actively promoting the rights of young people as individuals and providing excellent care in accordance with organisational policies and procedures. You will lead a team of care workers, in line with relevant legislation and guidance, to achieve positive outcomes for young people, supporting their physical, psychological, emotional, and social development. You will also contribute significantly to the overall ethos, values, and aims of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Service and Practice Oversight:
Develop and deliver high-quality care, adhering to relevant legislation, regulations (including Ofsted SCIFF), and organisational policies.
Ensure integration of an equal opportunities approach, working in an anti-discriminatory way, and incorporating safeguarding responsibilities.
Maintain strict adherence to all legislative guidelines for Health & Safety, ensuring all staff are adequately trained.
Manage appropriate records for young people and employees, implementing robust monitoring and evaluation systems.
Provide essential management information, including statistical data.
Develop and promote new childcare techniques, actively contributing to the senior team and promoting the organisation's well-being.
Prepare for, attend, and chair various internal and external meetings.
Participate in a rota for on-call responsibilities, including covering sleep-in shifts if required due to shortfalls.
Write concise and evaluative reports, overseeing all written communication to maintain required standards.
Exercise appropriate decision-making authority.
Oversee all admissions and discharges to the home.
Drive innovative change and effectively lead a vision aligned with the organisational ethos.
Commit to working towards a relevant Diploma Level 5 or equivalent if not already held.
Human Resource Management:
Participate in the recruitment of new employees, ensuring all relevant checks are completed.
Ensure all staff receive adequate induction, supervision, and appraisals in line with organisational policy.
Oversee Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for the staff team, ensuring all mandatory training requirements are met.
Maintain effective rotas and complete monthly expenses.
Undertake investigations for grievances, complaints, and disciplinary matters (at an appropriate level) in accordance with organisational policies.
Management of Physical and Financial Resources:
Monitor the service budget and all financial transactions, ensuring financial targets are achieved and adhered to.
Take responsibility for ensuring the overall maintenance of the service premises and equipment meets requirements.
External Affairs:
Promote the organisation positively with external agencies, other professionals, and the general public.
Liaise with commissioners and referrals managers regarding admissions.
Attend and contribute to psychotherapy leadership and management forums, leading these meetings within your team.
Requirements:
Essential Criteria:
Qualified Social Work Professional: You must hold a recognised social work qualification, such as a QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (Children and Young People) and a QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce or equivalent.
Proven Management Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children and, for at least 1 year, requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role.
Driving Licence: Must be licensed to drive a manual gear car and have consistent use of your own car with business insurance (proof will need to be supplied as part of onboarding).
Flexibility: Ability to undertake on-call duties (on average 2 duties per month).Enthusiasm for providing the highest quality care and education.
Proven experience managing a team.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
Familiarity with the needs of vulnerable individuals.
Demonstrated high standards of safe working practice.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, young people, and external agencies.
Ability to maintain emotional resilience when working with challenging behaviour.
Respect for appropriate boundaries and authority.
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Understanding and commitment to equal opportunities.
Holds a current UK driving licence / has the use of appropriate transport.
Flexible and reliable.
Willingness to participate in management forums and contribute to the development of work practice, policies, and procedures.
Benefits
Annual Leave: 25 days per annum plus 8 statutory bank holidays.
Ofsted Bonus: £3,000 bonus for an 'Outstanding' Ofsted Report.
Occupancy Bonus: £200 per month for full occupancy.
On-Call Payments: £25 for weekday on-call, £35 for weekend on-call.
Flexible Working: Normal working days are Monday-Friday (9am-5pm), with flexibility to meet rota requirements, including potential sleep-in duties.
Petrol Allowance: Paid when using your own car for business – proof of business insurance must be provided.
Pension: In line with the organisational Pension Scheme and government guidance.
