Description:

The Opportunity

Ainsworth Recruitment is searching for a high-impact Chief of Staff to partner directly with the Managing Director of a leading international pharmaceutical services provider. This is a newly created, pivotal role designed for a senior leader who can operate as a "consultant-in-residence" and a strategic deputy.

This is not a traditional administrative role. You will be the MD’s "Number Two," responsible for translating high-level vision into operational reality across all business functions. If you are a "Super-Connector" who excels at navigating complex, cross-functional environments, this is your next career move.

The Role: Strategic Linchpin & Force Multiplier

As Chief of Staff, you will sit at the intersection of strategy and execution. You will hold the "connective tissue" of the business together, ensuring that Legal, Finance, Operations, and Commercial divisions are aligned and performing against key KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executive Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor and proxy for the MD, attending high-level meetings and driving accountability across the senior leadership team.

  • Operational Oversight: Review and optimize processes across Finance, Legal, and Operations to ensure the business is "fit for growth."

  • KPI & Performance Management: Design and own the executive dashboard, tracking performance across all divisions and flagging roadblocks before they become crises.

  • Commercial & Marketing Strategy: Leveraging your deep Pharma Marketing background to ensure commercial launches and brand strategies are integrated with the wider business goals.

  • Special Projects (Consultancy): Lead "grey space" projects—such as M&A integrations, new territory setups, or major legal/compliance overhauls—that don't have a natural departmental owner.

  • Governance & Tenders: Provide strategic support for major commercial tenders, ensuring legal and financial risks are balanced with commercial opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a rare blend of strategic thinker and operational doer. You must be comfortable challenging C-suite stakeholders while maintaining the "Spidey sense" required to manage the MD’s priorities.

Requirements:

  • Pharma Commercial Background: Significant experience in Pharmaceutical Sales & Marketing is essential. You must speak the language of the brand manager and the rep.

  • High-Level Versatility: Proven ability to work across "non-commercial" functions like Finance, Legal, and Operations.

  • Strategic Consulting Skillset: Experience in a consultancy-style role (either internal or external) where you have solved complex business problems and managed large-scale change.

  • Data Fluency: Expert at synthesizing complex data into clear, actionable executive summaries and KPI dashboards.

  • Discretion & Influence: Exceptional emotional intelligence; you must be able to influence without direct authority and handle highly sensitive corporate information.

Why This Role?

This is a "stepping stone" to a Managing Director or COO role. You will gain unrivaled visibility into how a multi-million-pound international pharma service provider operates from the inside out.
